Physik und verwandte Wissenschaften in Robert Musils Roman Der Mann ohne Eigenschaften
Product Information
Product Description
A precise study of the novel shows that the natural scientific and mathematical specialized discourses contained within it constitute a large portion of the text that has been neglected in humanities research thus far. In the present work, it is fundamentally demonstrated through numerous textual examples: 1. Musil possesses immense specialized knowledge in the mentioned specialized discourses, which emerges in many places in the texts. 2. Earlier literary and philosophical research works have either not seen these considerable specialized discursive components of the novel work at all or have completely misunderstood them in part. From both of these, the special position of Musil's work can be recognized, which is based on the fact that specialized knowledge is primarily used operationally. Consequently, Musil's literary work cannot initially be read interdiscursively, as has been done in earlier investigations, but requires a detailed reconstruction of the natural scientific, mathematical and physical-psychological specialized discourses that Musil drew upon.
