Interkulturelle Ethik. Historisch-kritische Untersuchungen zur Grundlegung... / Ethik und Rationalitätsformen im Kulturvergleich
Product Information
Product Description
In today's time of growing cultural convergence, the question of cross-cultural ethics is of crucial importance. In view of repeatedly raised claims that major differences between European and non-European thinking stand in the way of this, a critical examination of such theses is undertaken and it is demonstrated that these are mostly unjustified. By tracing certain dominant European perspectives from antiquity through the modern era to the present, the volume exposes the ethnocentric aspects of the tradition of postconventional approaches. This brings to the fore those time and space transcending commonalities that are also too little considered by many modern cultural relativistic approaches. The volume attempts to initiate a new intercultural dialogue about ethics by breaking down prejudices on both sides.
