Bibliographische Beiträge zu Ostasien
Product Information
Product Description
The volume offers a wealth of bibliographical references through which important materials are made accessible for the first time that are not contained in existing specialist bibliographies. Das Ausland, one of the important Cotta journals, and the Magazin für die Literatur des Auslandes provide numerous solid contributions about East Asia for the 19th century: travel reports, political and military accounts, translations from Chinese and Japanese literature that were also unknown to specialists. The same applies to the short-lived periodicals Geist des Ostens and Ho Ping Pao, the latter a news bulletin of the Chinese representation in Berlin after World War II. Chinese medicine is particularly popular today, but the medical texts were previously little collected. A register opens up the medical treasures of the Paris National Library. The complete translations of the poetic works of the two Tang poets Tu Fu and Han Yü published by the excellent specialist Erwin von Zach have been made accessible again through new editions by Harvard University. Table of contents and registers now allow quick access to masterpieces of Chinese poetry.
