Product Description
With the present work by Uwe Steinkötter, a series of diploma and doctoral dissertations dedicated to the theme of the Excellence process temporarily concludes. In my now 40-year experience as a work scientist with practice, one thing has crystallized quite clearly: The realization that science on one hand and practice on the other must move as close together as possible. Scientific work must always keep in mind, alongside the fundamental, systematic and secured development of new knowledge, its practice-oriented realization. If scientific thinking wishes to meet the demand for practice-oriented implementation, it requires promoters in and from practice. These in turn must be able to make decisions of far-reaching significance, so that developments often positioned very far in advance can also be implemented and tested in practice. Here now requires the presentation and approach suitable for practitioners positioned at decision levels. Time restrictions of these decision-makers or power promoters are not least hindrance factors for timely implementation of decisive progress. In this context, the topic that Mr. Steinkötter addresses and complements with his work is to be sought. In the struggle for market shares and competitive advantages, the holistic management approach plays a quite decisive role. The Excellence model of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) supports management through its comprehensive approach. The method in turn, which Mr. Steinkötter presents in his work, helps the busy executive to personally get a picture of their own organization in a short time, without having to involve expensive external consultants. Not only is the position determined. Improvement potentials are identified that can be systematically prioritized and condensed into improvement measures. These improvement measures in turn have examples of "Best Practices" and applicable tools for implementation available. It is to be hoped that what has been developed experiences diverse utilization, in order to thereby not least also utilize the potentials at the German location and operate the value creation that urgently appear necessary, not to let Germany's former dominance within the world economy sink further.
