Product Information
Product Description
Ma Jinlian's moving novel "Mother" (我的母亲喜进花) tells the story of a Chinese mother and her family across several generations. The work, originally published in China in 2020, was translated into German by Martin Woesler (吴漠汀) from Hunan Normal University together with Wang Min Minna (王敏), Liu Shuo Louisa (刘硕) and Fu Chen Tina (傅晨). The novel is divided into four main parts: "Basic Colors," "The Fortress of the Feng Family," "Wife and Human Being," and "Free Medical Diagnosis." The author draws a sensitive portrait of the lives of Chinese women and their role in family and society. The story begins with a poignant scene in which the protagonist enters the house with the inner courtyard after a long time and remembers past times. Ma Jinlian skillfully weaves personal destinies with China's social changes, creating a multi-layered work about motherhood, family and cultural identity.
